- An API key for at least one provider:
- DeepL API (Free or Pro)
- OpenAI API (billing/credits required)
- Google Cloud Translate (billing required)
Instructions
Installation & Setup
- Upload the module ZIP in Modules → Module Manager.
- Click Install.
- Open LiveTranslate → Configure.
- Select a provider (DeepL / OpenAI / Google Cloud Translate).
- Paste your API key and save.
- Choose your default target language and widget options.

✅ DeepL API Key
- Go to DeepL API: https://www.deepl.com/pro-api
- Create an account and choose a plan (Free API or Pro API).
- Copy your API key from your DeepL dashboard.
- Paste it into LiveTranslate configuration.
⚠️ DeepL Endpoint (IMPORTANT)
DeepL has two endpoints:
Free: api-free.deepl.com | Pro: api.deepl.com
If you select the wrong endpoint, DeepL will return an authentication error.
LiveTranslate v1.2.70 includes an endpoint selector in Advanced settings.

✅ OpenAI API Key
- Create an OpenAI account.
- Open the API keys page: https://platform.openai.com/api-keys
- Create a new secret key and copy it.
- Paste it into LiveTranslate configuration.
ℹ️ Billing requirement
OpenAI requires an active billing method or sufficient credits. If billing is not enabled, requests may fail even with a valid key.

✅ Google Cloud Translate API Key
- Go to Google Cloud Console: https://console.cloud.google.com/
- Create a project (or select an existing one).
- (IMPORTANT) Enable billing for your project: https://console.cloud.google.com/billing
- Enable Cloud Translation API: https://console.cloud.google.com/marketplace/product/google/translate.googleapis.com
- Open Credentials: https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials
- Create an API key and copy it.
- Paste it into LiveTranslate configuration.
