Overview
Reduce order mistakes before they become support problems
Eggy Order Rescue for WooCommerce gives customers a limited, secure opportunity to correct eligible order details after checkout.
Customers can update permitted delivery information or submit a cancellation request while the rescue window remains open. Products, quantities, prices, taxes, payment details, shipping methods and order totals remain protected.
Safe customer order corrections
Store owners can allow customers to correct selected information such as:
- Shipping first and last name
- Shipping company
- Address lines
- Town or city
- Postcode
- Contact telephone number
- Delivery instructions
- Customer order notes
Billing contact fields can also be enabled separately. Sensitive fields such as billing email, country and state remain locked.
Time-limited rescue window
The rescue period is configurable and enforced using server-side timestamps. The visible countdown is provided for convenience, but changing the browser clock or disabling JavaScript cannot extend the permitted editing period.
Registered and guest customer access
Registered customers can access only orders attached to their own account.
Guest customers can use secure, order-specific rescue links. Guest access uses cryptographically generated tokens, stores only one-way token hashes and expires automatically when the rescue window closes or the order becomes ineligible.
Cancellation request workflow
Customers can submit cancellation requests without the plugin falsely claiming that an order has already been cancelled or refunded.
Paid and processing orders require administrator review. Optional automatic cancellation can be enabled only for eligible unpaid pending-payment orders.
The plugin does not issue automatic payment refunds or guarantee payment reversals.
Complete audit history
Every completed or rejected rescue action can be recorded with:
- Order number
- Actor type
- Changed fields
- Previous and updated values
- Result
- Order status
- Timestamp
- Plugin version
Raw guest tokens, payment details, passwords and authentication data are not stored in audit records.
WooCommerce email notifications
Built-in WooCommerce email classes can notify customers and administrators when:
- Order details are updated
- A cancellation request is submitted
- A cancellation request is approved
- A cancellation request is rejected
HTML and plain-text templates are included and can be overridden through the active theme.

Installation
Upload the plugin ZIP through the WordPress plugin installer, activate it while WooCommerce is active, then configure the rescue window and permitted fields from the WooCommerce administration menu.

- WooCommerce 9.9 or later, installed and active

- WordPress pretty permalinks recommended for clean guest rescue URLs

- Administrator permission to install plugins and manage WooCommerce orders
No external API, paid service, licence server, Composer, Node.js, command-line access or shell access is required.
The plugin supports WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage and legacy WooCommerce order storage.
Instructions
Installation
- Sign in to the WordPress administration area.
- Make sure WooCommerce is installed and active.
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
- Select
eggy-order-rescue-for-woocommerce-1.0.0.zip. - Click Install Now.
- When installation finishes, click Activate Plugin.
No manual file editing, Composer installation, command-line access or external API configuration is required.
Initial configuration
- Open WooCommerce → Eggy Order Rescue.
- Select Settings.
- Choose the rescue-window duration. The default is 30 minutes.
- Select the WooCommerce order statuses eligible for customer corrections.
- Enable or disable registered-customer and secure guest access.
- Select which safe shipping, telephone, delivery-note and optional billing fields customers may edit.
- Configure cancellation requests and email notifications.
- Click Save settings.
Recommended first checks
- Open WooCommerce → Eggy Order Rescue → System Status.
- Confirm that the required database tables are healthy.
- Confirm that WooCommerce email classes are registered.
- Confirm that the detected HPOS status matches the store configuration.
- Check that guest access, audit logging and email notifications show the intended status.
Registered customer workflow
- The customer signs in to their WooCommerce account.
- They open an eligible recent order.
- They select Rescue this order.
- They correct only the fields permitted by the store owner.
- They select Save changes.
- The plugin validates ownership, order status, rescue-window expiry and permitted fields before saving.
Products, quantities, prices, taxes, payment details, shipping methods and order totals cannot be changed.
Guest customer workflow
Eligible guest customers use a secure, order-specific rescue link. The link expires when the rescue window closes or the order becomes ineligible.
Guest rescue links should be treated as private. They must not be posted publicly or forwarded to unrelated people.
Cancellation requests
- The customer selects Request cancellation.
- They enter or select a cancellation reason.
- The request appears under Eggy Order Rescue → Rescue Requests.
- An authorised WooCommerce administrator may approve or reject it.
Important: approving a request can change the WooCommerce order status, but the plugin does not automatically issue or guarantee a payment refund. Review the payment separately in WooCommerce or the relevant payment gateway.
Audit records
Open WooCommerce → Eggy Order Rescue → Audit Log to review completed, rejected and expired rescue actions.
Audit records may include the order, actor, changed fields, previous values, updated values, result, timestamp, order status and plugin version.
Guest link returns a 404 error
- Go to Settings → Permalinks.
- Click Save Changes once.
- Retry the guest rescue link.
You do not need to change the existing permalink structure.
Email notifications
Eggy Order Rescue uses the WooCommerce email system. Email templates can be enabled, disabled and configured through the WooCommerce email settings.
If notifications are not delivered, check the store's WordPress email configuration, SMTP service and hosting mail logs.
Deactivation and removal
Deactivating the plugin does not delete settings, audit records, cancellation requests or WooCommerce orders.
Plugin data is preserved during deletion by default. To remove Eggy Order Rescue data during uninstall, first enable:

WooCommerce orders are never deleted by this option.
